Latinas in College

PURPOSE

To engage Latina girls in:

	hands-on activities to explore science and mathematics in everyday life
	developing useful technology skills
	understanding the importance disease identification and prevention in personal and community life
	learn about careers for women in science and mathematics
	meet and talk with Latin women leaders

WHO

Latina girls from Nebraska and Iowa high schools who have completed ninth grade

CURRICULUM

Students become "vet detectives" to learn about women who have made science their career, and how veterinarians work to prevent animal diseases. With hands-on activities participants will explore animal behavior and its implications for prevention of human diseases.
