Effective teachers can direct others in developing their potential, while creating rich learning environments. Excellent teachers emerge from preservice programs with knowledge, skills, and values resulting from strong liberal arts programs which are integrated with personalized multifaceted courses in teaching.
Education students are challenged by roles of preserving the past and predicting the future. Confronted with these tasks,
schools need teachers who are knowledgeable, creative, flexible, constructive, and competent. Teachers need to be sensitive to the individuality of all students. They must preserve their dignity and encourage their personal development. Teachers need to be architects of programs that enable students to learn in positive and productive environments.
