Define curriculum and explain curriculum standards and benchmarks. 2. Explain technology integration or curriculum integration. 3. Describe the use of computers in computer labs versus classroom instruction. 4. Identify ways to plan for technology integration. 5. Explain various planning tools and instructional models. 6. Describe the steps of the ASSURE Instructional Model. 7. Identify ways to get started using technology at a new school. 8. Describe the use of learning centers. ASSESSMENT: Observation during lecture. Ask students to explain the different types of computer labs. Answer quiz questions. Materials/Technologies: Computer, Projection Unit, Power Point Presentation, Web Site, Handout Procedures: Technology integration in the classroom Introduction Pass out handout Ask the students to raise their hand if they have ever had any experience with technology integration in the classroom. Ask the students who have had experience with technology integration how they feel about it. Discuss the ASSURE model points. Show students the web site of St. James/Seton and explain how that school uses technology integration. What the teacher is to do: Go through the power point presentation as a guide, but really focus on the integration of technology in the classroom by showing the web site. What the student are to do: Students will observe for the first half of the presentation and then go to the web site to see how they use integration in the classroom. Closure: Looking at the St. James/Seton web site discuss how they use technology integration in the classroom compared to what they know about technology in the classroom. Explanation: I chose to do this Chapter because I was new to the idea of integrating technology in the classroom. Being a non-traditional student, I was not educated at the time when technology was available. I learned a lot from creating this presentation. |
