flower handout Introductory questions to ask students: Does anyone know how many different kinds of flowers there are? Can you tell me some types of flowers? Where do flowers come from? What are the different parts of a flower? Activity: Draw the different parts of a flower. Encourage children to discuss among each other the different parts of a flower. Art Project: Mix plaster and place in dixie cups. Let each child place a few fake flowers in the plaster. Once dry, peel off the dixie cups and let each child paint the plaster. Draw the different parts of a flower and explain answers to children's questions. Encourage children to discuss the parts of a flower among each other. Hand out worksheets. Place flowers under the microscope so each child gets to look at the flowers closely. After the discussion, have the children draw what they have seen. Integrating technology: Children will surf various educational sites on the internet about flowers. Students will also design their own flowers and label the parts they have learned during this project.
