Introduction

Get ready our class will be taking a safari!  We will be traveling into the heart of Africa to observe the African Elephant.  Don't forget your sunscreen! 

Task

 First, you will have to log on to www.oaklandzoo.org/atoz/azeleph.html and answer the five questions below on the African Elephant.  Second you and your group will have to design a web on poster board or on the computer.  Last you will present it to the class.

Process

1.  Divide into groups of five.

2.  Assign each group member a question from the list.

3. The Questions

a.  Are the male African elephants larger than the females?

b.  How many pounds of food do working elephants need per day?

c.  Why are the African elephants endangered?

d.  Why do the African elephants roll in the dust and throw it on their back?

e.  What are the African elephants tusk for?

4.  Log on to www.oaklandzoo.org/atoz/azeleph.html

5.  Answer your questions

6.  As a group decide how your going to do your web.

7.  Create your web.

8.  Present to class.

Evaluation

You will be evaluated on how you answer your  answer's to your questions, your group work, your web, and your presentation.

Conclusion

In conclusion the students learned how to log on a web site, gather information, and answer their questions.  They also learned how to make a web either on poster board or on the computer.  If they did the web on the computer they learned a program on the computer called Inspiration.
