SETA Conference 2003

from 8:00 to 4:00

I was very excited to attend SETA.  Prior to attending this conference, and class I had no idea how much one can use technology in the classroom.

When arriving around 8 am to help set up, there was nothing to help with. The conference was well organized! I was very excited to hear from Tony Vincent who is the Guru of Palm Pilot, and he lives in Omaha!!! He showed us so many ideas- I was truly amazed!!! I want to incorporate some of what he has done into my classroom setting!!!

The first session I went to was on Digital Cameras in the Classroom’ by Cassie Arthur, Jennifer Korth, and Katie Law.  The ideas they gave were very good.  They showed us how to use the camera, including little tips to remember when using the camera.  They took pictures, and put them on the website!  I have used my parents before but I wanted to learn more!

I attended ‘Palm Pilot use in Early Education’ by Amye Aggen, Amanda Auberry, Jenny Griffin, and Kari Wordekemper.  At first they had a some technical problems, and they could of used some more palms, but other than that it was a great session!

After that session, I went downstairs to sit at the table.  We then ate lunch, and got ready for our presentation! Deb, Tracy, and I rehearsed our presentation before we gave it.  There was a small turnout at our presentation. We first discussed what a Treasure Hunt was, and then we let them do the actual treasure hunt. They asked a lot of questions which was great. We had time so we showed them how to start one with filmatility! Next time- I would have a more advanced treasure hunt, and handouts on how to make one! :)
