I
have used this technique and it works! :)
I tap a rhythm on the shoulder of the person at the end of the line
(eg. ta ta ti-ti ta), then they tap it on the shoulder of the person
in front of them, and so on until it gets all the way to the front
of the line. Then we check and see if the rhythm stayed the same or
changed. The goal is for the rhythm to travel through the entire
line without changing. You can use more difficult rhythms for older
grades and easier for younger. They love when they get it and they
are learning to recognize rhythms too!
Hint: After doing this a few times the students tend to fight over
being at the back of the line, so I occasionally mix it up and start
from the other end.
