A Pioneers Trip West
Imagine you've gone to bed in your own bed at home snuggled up next
to your teddy bear in the present day and you wake up in the morning in
a covered wagon next to your Mother with supplies for the long journey
ahead surrounding you.

The Task
 | As a class read Sarah, Plain and Tall |
 | In your small group, find three recipes that Sarah's family might
have made while traveling. |
 | The class will choose a meal and make a list of all the supplies
needed to prepare the meal. |
 | Prepare the meal in class. |
 | Find three toys in the wagon that you can play with as the wagon
continues on the journey |
 | Visit the Durham Western Heritage Museum ( or provide the class
with pictures/books of pioneer life) |
 | Show and Tell with items from the Pioneer days (made or actual)
