  Chapter 5- Confirmed in Holiness: The Seven Gifts of the Spirit (pages 45-48)

Duration: Possibly 2 class periods

Objectives:

1. To identify gifts that are instilled in the students and that will be strengthened at Confirmation
2. To identify the Seven Gifts of the Holy Spirit and their meaning
3. To have students articulate possible applications of the gifts of the Holy Spirit to contemporary life

  Assessment:

1. Participation and sharing in small group activity
2. Homework
3. Test

  Procedures:

1. Anticipatory Set: Superheroes—their gifts and powers
2. Introduce Gifts of the Holy Spirit
3. Apply meaning and examples to each gift
4. 7 groups—each assigned a particular gift—students discuss scenarios they have used gift in or that they have seen others use the particular gift
5. Each group briefly shares reflection with class

1.      Focus on “gift” from Holy Spirit
